Ok, new to the board...
Before I begin the recap, here's a little about us...
Began dating 10 years ago...knew almost immediately that this would be my husband. I was in college, he's a little older. He stood beside me through alot--me finishing college, beginning a career, switching careers, going back to school to get my Master's...and FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY, after 10 years together...setting a date!
Thus the title,
A Decade in the Making...
OK, so as I mentioned earlier, I was in grad school, just finished at the end of June, so I was pretty busy with that and work and planning the wedding for the last couple of months. But, after almost five months of planning, my wedding weekend was here! The festivities began on Thursday.
Thursday
Woke up pretty early and set out with my girlfriends and one of my sisters to spend the day in Philly sightseeing, eating, and just kicking off the weekend. The day went well, pretty much spent the day laughing like fools and eating like pigs. Returned home at about 2 am.
Friday
Woke up about 9 am and headed to the gym for my final workout before the wedding and honeymoon. Everyone there was congratulating me and reveling in how calm and relaxed I was. Hey, no need to be stressed out now. The way I looked at it, whatever wasn't done was not gonna get done now, so I was pretty chill. After the gym I headed to the nail salon to get a mani/pedi and the brows waxed. Spent about two hours there and then stopped by the florist to order a tossing bouquet. Then came home to straighten up a bit before people started coming over. Ate a quick plate of food then cleaned up with the help of one of my sisters and my niece then my mom and other sister arrived. Talked with them for a few then hopped in the shower. I'm a stickler for time, so headed over to the wedding site for rehearsal--Only about mins from my house. Ran through the ceremony a couple of times, talked with the manager of the location updating final counts, etc and headed back home for a dinner with the BP. I had ordered some food from a local restaurant: fried fish, fried wings, potato salad and string beans so we came in and ate and just laughed for a few hours. By this time (about 11 pm) I was really getting tired, so I threw a few more things in my overnight bag and headed to the hotel with my sisters, niece, and mom. We stayed up til about 2 talking and laughing then one by one began falling asleep.
Saturday
Woke up at about 7:30, hopped in the shower, threw on some shorts and a tank and after stopping at Mickey D's for a hash brown, walked across to the hair salon. My sister had the brilliant idea to book the room at the hotel closest to the salon, which was really convenient. We got our hair done and stopped at the deli for a sandwich on our way back to the hotel. Grilled chicken ceasar wrap with doritos and water...yummy. After we ate, we took naps, and I woke up at like 2:45 to begin getting ready. Florist was there at 3 with the bouquets. No probs---everything exactly as I ordered. Makeup artist came by at 3:30 and photographer arrived shortly after that to begin taking pics. SIL and MIL arrived around this time, too. Limo arrived at hotel ON TIME (again, no probs) and we left there at 5:20. A ride that should have taken 20 mins took 45 and I was getting frustrated, but we couldn't control the traffic. Needless to say, I was 2 mins late to the ceremony. :yup: Anyway...we ended up starting a half hour late due to a late GM (stuck in traffic). You know I was :tantrum: but hubby wanted to wait for him. Wedding and reception went off perfectly...food was delicious, cake was too die for, we danced our butts off.
