I think I may have a problem already...here goes...the colors I have choose for my wedding is light/dark blue w/cream accent.
My church has burgandy carpet and over the back of the choir stand burgandy draperies.
My initial thought was to get some material and do a nice drape style over the burgandy draperies....
then I thought about changing my colors to compliment the draperies as I have read you should try and choose colors that blend with the surroundings.
so if I go with a burgandy...what other colors would you all suggest. What would you do?

Burgandy was my first choice for colors for my wedding and I was I was going to use burgandy and gold at first. But burgandy also goes with creame, hunter green, silver and navy blue too.

Hey,
My thoughts are that if the ceremony is only 1/2 hour and the reception is longer, I would more think of a match to the reception site.
Besides, I think dark blue and burgundy go together anyway.
Least you've got colors...girl, i'm still trying to figure that part out.

My church has deep burgandy/red velvet carpeting and seats. Our colors were black and white. We just went with it.
The reception hall had midnight blue and gold carpeting and accents. We did our best to decorate in as much white and black as possible to mask the blue and gold. Again, we just went with it.
I think the colors you have chosen will not clash with the burgandy. The burgandy may, in fact, serve as a nice backdrop and bring your colors out more and make them stand out.

I think the blue would be fine. I don't even think I factored in the ceremony/reception site colors. I think I just picked and went with it and everything worked out. I'm thinking back to some other weddings I attended and I think many churches have the burgundy and gold accents and for the life of my I can't remember ever saying, "hmmmmmmmmmmm, the bridal party is clashing with the backdrop of the church."
So blue you say? I say go for it!

I have to agree with Ronnie. If you start trying to coordinate your colors to the site (ceremony or reception) then you won't be brining out your own style and you would pretty much be like every bride that comes in there who tried to coordinate with the site's colors. Go with what you want. You and your BP will be all your guests will see and comment on. Your colors will be a huge enhancement to any site decor.
